We are seeking a talented and motivated senior Geospatial Data Scientist to join our team to work on a research and development project. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer science, geospatial data analysis, data analytics, dashboard development, big data processing, and data visualization. This role involves undertaking research and development on innovative projects that leverage geospatial data to create interactive web tools that drive insights and inform decision-making. 
 
Key Responsibilities 

  • Analyze and process geospatial data using modern tools and techniques. 
  • Develop and implement algorithms for spatial data analysis, including spatial interpolation, clustering, and spatial-temporal modeling. 
  • Create innovative and interactive dashboards and visualizations to present data insights effectively to stakeholders. 
  • Work with big data platforms (e.g., Big Query, Athena) to process and analyze large geospatial datasets. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate geospatial analysis into broader data science projects. 
  • Build APIs or systems to serve geospatial insights or datasets to external and internal applications. 
  • Design scalable solutions for geospatial data storage, retrieval, and analysis. 
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and methods in geospatial analytics, data science, and visualization. 
  • Work with subject matter experts to integrate key concepts into data-driven decision-making tools. 
  • Conceptualize develop workflows to achieve project goals 
 
Qualifications 
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred 
  • 5+ Years of Experience in Application development, data analytics preferably geospatial analysis and applications 
  • Proficiency in geospatial analysis tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, PostGIS) 
  • Highly Experienced with programming languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript 
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization libraries and tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, D3.js). 
  • Familiarity with big data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). 
  • Solid understanding of data analytics techniques, statistical methods, AI and machine learning concepts. 
  • Experience in database management (SQL and NoSQL) and handling geospatial data formats (GeoJSON, shapefiles).  
  • Strong initiative, innovation, communication and problem-solving skills. 

Preferred

  • Experience with real-time geospatial data processing and streaming analytics. 
  • Familiarity with remote sensing data and imagery analysis. 
  • Knowledge of web development for geospatial applications (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet). 
  • Knowledge or interest in planning concepts related to parks and public spaces
